This is a detail of my largest and most complex work yet.
It is a tribute to my late father John Long. He was 78 years old when he attempted to sail solo from Alameda, California to his native home; Myrtleville, Cork, Ireland.
His body was found floating two miles off the coast of southern Chiapas, Mexico on February 2, 2008. He died of a fractured neck with blunt force trauma to his head, arms and chest. He did not drown.
It can be seen currently at the Oakland Museum of California for the Dia De Los Muertos show through December 8, 2008.
